Canada Day in Victoria

There are plenty of Canada Day celebrations in Victoria and its surrounding regions. There are street festivals in downtown, special events at local attractions and beautiful fireworks that light up the night sky.

City of Victoria Canada Day Event

The main Canada Day event in Victoria is usually put together by the City of Victoria. After two consecutive years without large in-person Canada Day celebrations, Victoria’s main July 1st event returned with in-person activities in 2022. The celebrations are happened once again in 2025 and will likely continue in 2026.

The 2026 Canada Day event takes place on Wednesday, July 1st, on Bellville Street and the Legislature Lawn in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. We are unsure about the exact details for this year, but the event typically runs from noon until late evening. It tends to feature multicultural performances, food trucks, a pop-up market, kids activities and a fireworks display. Exact details for 2026 are to be confirmed.

Other Celebrations

There are typically a few other special events to check out on the Canada Day long weekend each year. Popular events and places to visit include the following:

Butchart Gardens – the beautiful attraction hosts concerts on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during the summar. There are also fireworks on Saturdays.
Canada Day Market – a market with a variety of vendors takes place at Ship Point over the July holiday long weekend. 2026 details are to be confirmed.
Gorge Canada Day Picnic – a popular event on Canada Day happens along Gorge Waterway Park in Saanich. Festivities typically start at about 8:30 am and run until around 4:00 pm.
