Victoria’s Huntingdon Hotel and Pendray Inn & Tea House

These three-star hotels are on the same property and operate in partnership with each other. Huntingdon Hotel and Suites (formerly known as Huntingdon Manor) is the larger of the two with 114 rooms. Pendray Inn & Tea House is a little cozier with just 10 rooms.

Both hotels are in an older, British style. Huntingdon Hotel features pleasant outdoor walkways with gardens and ponds to enjoy. Pendray Inn was originally built in the 19th century as an upper-class family home and has since been converted into a hotel. The building is both charming and beautiful.

Guests at both properties are encouraged to enjoy afternoon tea at the Pendray Tea House. Doing so is an elegant way to relax and spoil yourself with tasty treats and tea. It’s a most Victoria thing to do!

While the Pendray Tea House grabs the headlines for its charming character, Huntingdon Hotel offers the complimentary breakfast buffet at Hunter’s Restaurant. There’s also Santiago’s Cafe which is an independently-operated Mexican diner located next to the hotel on the same property.

Also next door to the hotel is Free Spirit Botanicals, a spa that offers handmade oils and other skincare products. They give massages, facials and other relaxing treatments. For those who want to get out and explore the city, The Pedaler is a bike tour and rental shop located on the hotel property as well.

Location and Cost

The two hotels are next to each other, but do have different streets in their addresses. Huntingdon Hotel is at 330 Quebec Street while Pendray Inn is at 309 Belleville Street.

The buildings are just a couple blocks from Victoria’s Inner Harbour. They are conveniently between just a 5 and 10-minute walk from the Coho Ferry Terminal, BC Legislative Buildings, Tourist Information Centre, and Government Street.

The price to stay at one of the hotels depends both on the time of year and how far in advance the booking is made.

During the winter the cost for one of the entry-level rooms at the Huntingdon Hotel can be as low as $150 per night. During the peak of summer that can rise to over $300. There are a variety of options for fancier rooms including ones with private balconies, full kitchens, upstairs lofts and multiple bedrooms.

There are a smaller number of rooms available at Pendray Inn, all of which are uniquely designed and different from each other. Prices for each room are a little more uniform than at Huntingdon, ranging from around $200 to $500 depending on the time of year as of January 2026.

Given the limited occupancy at Pendray, it’s recommended to book your stay well in advance (at least during peak travel times).

Hotel Amenities

Huntingdon Hotel and Pendray Inn partner with each other and the property as a whole has a number of amenities and services.

Huntingdon Hotel

The Huntingdon is an older hotel which retains much of its original character and charm. When we stayed there we had a dog-friendly room (because we had our dog, Ninja, with us). It was one of the more affordable rooms. It cost $30 extra because of our pet, but it came with a dog bed, a food bowl which we could keep, and a couple of dog treats. Ninja love the room and all its perks.

Our room had the standard bathroom, TV, mini ridge, coffee maker, side tables and desk space. It also had hardwood laminate floors instead of carpet (because it was a pet-friendly room). The room also had a very nice balcony overlooking the garden and Pendray Inn & Teahouse. On the balcony there was a table and two chairs.

Our room was on the first floor and had a lovely king-sized bed. It was very comfortable, and came with lots of pillows. I think there were five of them!

In addition to the dog-friendly room with the balcony, another extra nice feature of our room was that it included a buffet breakfast. It included waffles, bagels and bread that you could toast. There were also cooked sausages, large-cut potato hashbrowns and scrambled eggs, plus Greek yogurt, cold cereals and cut fruit. Coffee, tea and juice were also included.

Pendray Inn & Tea House

Prendray Inn is in a stunningly beautiful heritage building. It couldn’t be prettier! We haven’t stayed there, but hear it is really nice. Pendray Inn also offers rental options for weddings, Christmas parties and other events. They include catering provided by the hotel and access to both indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Afternoon Tea Experience

We have had the tea house which was lovely and something we will remember for a long time. We were joined by our mothers, two of them, and the four of us had a wonderful time sampling teas, pastries and other treats.

For afternoon tea we could choose from two dozen or so different types of tea. There was everything from herbal teas to green tea, chai, and various black teas. Each tea came in its own full-sized pot. It wasn’t a little tiny pot. It was a big one, and one each for each person. We all ordered a different type of tea and some of us sampled all four. They were all delicious. We had the Imperial Early Grey, a chai tea, a peach-scented tea and one other (but forget the name).

For food at the Pendray Teahouse we could choose between two different types of food options. There was the Winter Afternoon Tea which had a couple of meat savory items. There was also the West Coast Afternoon Tea which included a couple of things with seafood. Between us, we shared one of each. Had we wanted it, there was also a vegan version and a kids version available.

Both of the afternoon tea options we had came with a cucumber sandwich and a selection of sweats (including a macaron, meringue, piece of carrot cake and a sort of granola bar-type cake covered in chocolate).

Environmental Commitment

Huntingdon Hotel & Suites and Pendray Inn are environmentally-responsible hotels. They have been an EcoFund Verified Business since 2021. As a result, the hotels charge a $2.50 EcoFee that supports carbon reduction projects to offset the carbon footprint of your stay. $0.75 of each meal sold also benefits the EcoDine Forestry Initiative which protects Canada’s native woodlands, wildlife habitat and promotes carbon sequestration.

In addition to the above, the hotels are committed to reducing their environmental impact through a number of other eco-friendly practices and social policies. The hotels hold Biosphere, 4 Green Key, OceanWise and BC Green Business certifications. Some of their initiatives include composting, minimizing single-use packaging, reducing food waste (for which they are the first restaurant in Canada to be certified for The PLEDGE on Food Waste), recycling and sourcing locally.

The hotel has also partnered with the James Bay Neighbourhood Association to create the Dr. Bonnie Henry Community Garden on the hotel’s grounds which now include 25 plots for people in the neighbourhood. The hotels also encourage guests to conserve energy and water use, and to use the hotel’s recycling and composting facilities.
