A number of major running races take place in Victoria including the Times Colonist TC10K Run in April and the Royal Victoria Marathon in October.
Running Events in Victoria
A variety of races take place in Victoria each year, ranging from 5 km to full marathons! Different races take you through various areas of town, with views of the ocean and snow-capped mountains on almost all of the routes.
Below is a list of some of the main running races that take place each year in Victoria, British Columbia, including a major marathon, a couple of half marathons and a number of 10 km races.
Victoria Runs in Winter and Spring
- Hatley Castle 8K – an Island Race Series run that takes place in Colwood on the grounds of Hatley Castle in February.
- Goddess Run – a 10 km and 5 km centred around empowering females and raising money for charities happening in March.
- Westcoast Sooke 10k – a road race through Sooke in March.
- Royal Roads Trail Run – an 11 km and 6 km run through the trails near Royal Roads University in April.
- TC 10K – Victoria’s largest running race, attracting over 10,000 participants and taking place in April.
- Oak Bay Half Marathon – a half marathon, relay, 10 km & kids 1 km in May.
- Run For Women – a 10 km and 5 km that takes place at Elk Lake Regional Park in May.
- Sooke Hills – an intense 25 km and 50 km race that takes place at the end of May.
Victoria Runs in Summer and Fall
- CFB Esquimalt Navy Run – a 10 km and 5 km race around the Esquimalt Navy base in June.
- Finlayson Arm Ultra – an ultra run through Goldstream Provincial Park, with distances of 28 km, 50 km, and 50 miles taking place in early September.
- Royal Victoria Marathon – a major race starting in downtown Victoria over the Thanksgiving long weekend, including a full marathon, half marathon, 8 km, and 5 km.
- Bear Mountain 10K – takes place in November in Langford and bills itself as “Canada’s hardest 10K”.
