Cirque du Soleil is an amazing, world-famous, Canadian circus company. In 2025 it brings its Crystal show to BC with stops in Victoria, Kelowna and Vancouver.

Crystal takes place at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre in May. It’s Cirque du Soleil, but on ice! We highly recommend going to see it!

Crystal at Cirque du Soleil

Crystal with Cirque du Soleil in 2025

We went to see Crystal at Cirque du Soleil in May 2025 and it was so good! We loved it! Cirque du Soleil is always spectacular. When it’s on ice, however, it adds a whole new dimension! The risk is increased, as it’s more difficult to land the flips and tricks, and the frosty stage makes the performers’ movements appear so incredibly fluid and graceful.

The story behind the show is that of a young girl named Crystal who feels out of place in the world and doesn’t always fit in. One day, while skating on a frozen pond, she falls through the ice and into a magical world of imagination. There, the girl meets her reflection who helps Crystal discover her creativity and embrace her true self. The story is about finding strength, empowerment and individuality.

The songs selected and the costumes in the show were very well suited to the acts taking place, with some slower, heart-wrenching numbers adding to the uncertainty that the main character, Crystal, is experiencing. This is paired with fast-paced dances showing the pressure she is under to figure out who she is. The story is conveyed well through a series of incredible acts such as aerial silks, juggling, trapeze, tumbling, hand balancing, and synchronized skating.

Crystal is Cirque du Soleil’s first-ever ice show. This is also Crystal’s grand finale tour, so your last chance to see it!

Where and When is the Show?

In Victoria Crystal takes place at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. The venue’s address is 1925 Blanshard Street which is just north of downtown Victoria. Performances run from May 8th to 18th. Shows are on the Thursdays to Sundays of May 8th to 11th and from the 15th until the 18th. There is one show on each weekday and two on the Saturdays and Sundays.

After Victoria, Cirque du Soleil takes the performances to Kelowna. It’s at Prospera Place from May 22nd to 25th. The address for the venue there is 1223 Water Street which is in downtown Kelowna, not far from the waterfront.

Crystal is in Vancouver, at the Pacific Coliseum at the PNE, on the Wednesday to Sunday of June 4th to 8th. The Pacific Coliseum’s address is 100 North Renfrew Street. For details about the show in the Lower Mainland, visit VancouversBestPlaces.com or the official cirquedusoleil.com website.

What to Expect

Crystal is a 125-minute show, including a 20-minute intermission. The production combines the best of professional ice skating and world-class acrobatics. Expect to be thrilled and amazed! We saw it on opening night, on May 8th, and it was fabulous!

The show opens with a clown who throws snowballs at audience members to set the theme of the ice and snow. (Note: The clown is more comedian than clown as there is no face paint involved. This is great for people who suffer from coulrophobia and are afraid of clowns.)

After the snowball-throwing introduction, the show then begins, explaining the emotional turmoil Crystal is going through by not knowing who she is or where she belongs. Crystal quickly slips through a crack in the ice into the reflection world, where she meets a reflection of herself who guides her along the way, allowing her to experience different things to see where she fits and where she does not. Eventually, Crystal discovers who she is and makes her way back to the real world.

My personal favourite performances were the aerial silks and the trapeze, which were both done to slow songs and had the whole audience’s attention. On ice they were absolutely beautiful and it felt like another level was added to the acts that you would not see at a normal performance.

Crystal in Victoria Video

Below are a few scenes from the show in Victoria which we filmed on our phone. Seeing it live and in-person is so much better. What you’ll see in the video, however, will give you an idea of what to expect. It’s a really good show!
